South by South West makes new and exciting small batch wines. Some wines are from our small batches, some are from our very small batches, and some are in-between. Currently our batch sizes are determined on the quality of the fruit at harvest and then how we want to showcase that fruit in a wine.
Each wine is created with its own personality, in a small batch where it can get the most loving attention. Each wine personality is founded on the fruit, and refined through the way it is made and labelled.

2019 2019 “Arancia”, Margaret River $35.00
The 2019 ‘Arancia’ Must Ferment Semillon Sauvignon Blanc is must ferment, sking contact wine. The name ‘Arancia’ comes directly from the distinct orange colour achieved by this wine. Arancia means orange in Italian.
Basically, it is a white wine, made in the style of red wine. We chose to make a skin contact wine like this to continue our focus on producing food paired wines. Skin contact white wines are fantastic food wines, and show off other qualities of the grapes and terroir and winemaking than non-skin contact white wines.
Our ‘Arancia’ is an interesting wine and can be a polarising wine for those that prefer conventional style white wines. We have made a small batch to showcase the different style and add another colour of wine to our repertoire.
This wine is un-fined, and un-filtered. It was bottled with some lees in the bottle to keep providing that textural element we think makes this wine.Build a case of 6 Build a case of 12
2019 2019 “Fieldie”, Margaret River $30.00
The ‘Fieldie’ is a co-ferment of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon grapes from our organically grown Wallcliffe Vineyard. Handpicked with friends from 40 year old vines on the eve of the harvest moon equinox on the twenty first of March 2019. This is a wild, open fermented blend of fruit with 1 to 5 days of skin contact before being pressed to neutral French oak barriques
In short…. a skinsey, textural, must ferment wine.Build a case of 6 Build a case of 12
2019 Sauvignon Blanc, Margaret River $25.00
Silver Medal (92 Points) – The Wine Show of Western Australia
After an era of super fruity, overtly savvy Bs, we find ourselves in a time of smartly made reserved versions of this ever vivacious grape – this wine is no exception. Taught acid gives structure to the vibrant stone and tropical fruit. On the nose the wine has a distinctive savory character with soft herbs and delicate fruit. The palate is complex – driven by a nervous tension that is offset by a plentiful amount of bright crunchy fruit. Delicious summer drinking.- Sold Out -
2019 Chardonnay, Margaret River $40.00
Our goal was simple – to show respect for the chardonnay grape. We’ve created a Chardonnay that displays finesse and elegance, with refined oak treatment and the deep, beautiful mouth coating characters that showcase the Margaret River region. This is a classical style Chardonnay with stone fruit flavours which present a distinctly supple, creamy texture, with well-balanced acidity and complexity.Build a case of 6 Build a case of 12
2019 Rosé, Margaret River $30.00
Gold Medal (95 Points) – The Wine Show of Western Australia
A rosé that stands out from the crowd of pink plonk. Made from free run shiraz juice which gives a vibrancy and depth, viognier adding texture and weight but what truly adds a layer of complexity is a portion of barrel aged sauvignon blanc which tightens the wine with a distinctive savoury element. On the nose there is this a very pretty floral character coupled with ripe stone fruits and spice. The palette maintains a more savoury, structure driven appearance with bright crunchy acid that is softened by the lushness of the fruit. The use of three interesting varieties coming together to create a summer drink that is as complex as it is delicious. We believe the 2019 rosé captures that uniquely summer feeling of being free and having fun.Build a case of 6 Build a case of 12
2019 Super Margs, Margaret River $45.00
To be released end of October.
Our 2019 ‘Super Margs’ draws influence from the highly sought after and respected Super Tuscan wines of Italy, which are made from non-indigenous varieties. After patiently waiting vintage after vintage for Sangiovese fruit, and having finally come into some this vintage, we decided to make a diversion from the regionally popular Cabernet Merlot blend and instead create a French Italian influenced, modern style wine – Sangiovese Cabernet.
The ripe fruit of the Cabernet Sauvignon provides richness and flavour, while the Sangiovese provides youthfulness, aromatics and overall acid to the blend. This wine is a little heavier than a medium bodied wine and shows off some great fruit and well-integrated tannins.Build a case of 6 Build a case of 12
2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, Margaret River $45.00
AWARDED SILVER MEDAL – THE WINE SHOW OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA, OCT 2018
“A well-managed cabernet showing some distinctive southern fruit influence, with the sage-like characters dominant. The palate, however, delivers plenty of richness and dense, concentrated flavour. Sinewy tannins and well-weighted oak sit in harmony to support the fruit. Controlled, focused palate extends to a long finish. 90 / 100 (Cellaring: Up to 2027).” Ray Jordan, The West Australian Wine Guide 2019, November 2018.
“Medium-bodied, clean, fresh, redcurrant, blueberry, jubey, minty. Smooth and gentle yet with noticeable grip to finish. Should be popular.” Peter Forrestal. 9 January 2018.
Our 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon has been sure to harness the unique herbaceous hints that make this grape a cult varietal of the Margaret River region. To truly represent the terroir of Margaret River we acquired fruit from three sub-regions (Carbunup, Wilyabrup, Wallcliffe), and captured the subtlety of each to produce a powerfully elegant full-bodied wine which is both soft and rich with well-rounded tannins, concentrated fruit flavours, supporting oak characteristics, and great length on the finish.- Sold Out -
2019 Sangiovese, Margaret River $35.00
Our love for Italian varietals and vintage spent making Chianti in Tuscany, Italy was the main inspiration to make a Sangiovese in 2019. With this wine we wanted to showcase a fruit forward wine with natural acidity and food focus. This is a rare Margaret River expression of this variety and made in tiny amounts, this is the perfect fresh, juicy wine to go with friends and food.
Our 2019 Sangiovese was harvested under this years Supermoon, when the Moon comes the closest to the Earth in its elliptic orbit, hence it’s nickname the “Supermoon Sangiovese”.Build a case of 6 Build a case of 12
2016 Malbec Cabernet, Margaret River $40.00
AWARDED GOLD MEDAL – THE WINE SHOW OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA, OCT 2018
“Attractive medium bodied with blackberry, mulberry flavours. Clean, fresh, multi-layered. Some savoury notes, roasting pan juices, juicy, spicy with a gentle grip and drinking well. A wine of substance.” Peter Forrestal, 9 January 2018.
Our 2016 Malbec Cabernet is a diversion from the regionally popular Cabernet Merlot blend. The ripe fruit of the Malbec drives the flavour, while the Cabernet provides lightness, aromatics and overall delicacy to the blend. This wine is medium bodied with the Malbec showing off ripe fruit, and Cabernet Sauvignon providing a level of sophistication, while producing a finish with generous chalky tannins.- Sold Out -
2019 Pinot Noir, Karridale $35.00
Knowing the complexities that making Pinot Noir entails, we took the approach that this wine would require a considerable amount of care, attention and patience. It is a delicate and joyful expression of Pinot Noir from the particular southern site in Karridale, that we sourced the grapes from.
Sourcing fruit from a cooler climate region combined with the use of up-cycled, older oak has resulted in a wonderful youthful, yet savoury wine that has balanced acidity and restraint.Build a case of 6 Build a case of 12
2016 Syrah, Great Southern $35.00
“This is sourced from the Great Southern. Slightly different take on the usual style of the region, with spicy, savoury notes merging with the plummy black cherry characters. Dusty oak influence and sinewy tannins create a controlled and focused palate that is slightly more old world in character and expression. Such a good food wine. 93 / 100 (Cellaring: Up to 2025).” Ray Jordan, The West Australian Wine Guide 2019, November 2018.
“Syrah is a cracker. Medium weight with spicy fruit/oak, silky texture, fine-grain tannins and good length. Silver and perhaps a gold medal in the right wine show. Topped the tasting session.” Liquor Barons Tasting Panel. Rod Properjohn, 30 January 2018.
Our 2016 Syrah produced from the Great Southern region makes clear the ‘great’ in Great Southern. The cooler climate combined with the use of Hungarian Oak has resulted in a more savoury wine that is both earthy and lively, with balanced acidity and softer, ripe tannins creating both power and restraint.- Sold Out -
