YOU TO OUR
South by South West makes new and exciting small batch wines. Some wines are from small batches, some are from very small batches, and some are in-between. Currently our batch sizes are determined on the quality of the fruit at harvest and then how we want to showcase that fruit in a wine.
The current vintages of 2016 and 2017 saw batch amounts of as little as 225L to 1600L across our range of wines. This ensured we could give each some extra special attention.
We think everyone should have fun with wine and decide for themselves how they want to engage. So, we created four distinct collections – something for everyone, highlighting the best of the south west:

Each wine in each collection is created with its own personality, in a small batch where it can get the most loving attention. Each wine personality is founded on the fruit, and refined through the way it is made and labelled.

2018 ‘Arancia’ Must Ferment Viognier Chardonnay, Margaret River $30.00
The ‘Arancia’ is a skin contact white wine. Basically, it is a white wine, made in the style of red wine.

2019 Sauvignon Blanc, Margaret River $25.00
In 2019 we sought capture a savoury crunchiness combined with soft tropical notes, by using a blend of fruit from the Wilyabrup and Karridale regions. 2017 Chardonnay, Margaret River $40.00

“This is an impressive wine that is made using a combination of largely gingin clones with some Burgundian clonal influences. Has aromas of minerals and creamy cashew and subtle stone fruit. The oak has been expertly handled to add some complexity and structural support. Palate is controlled and long. Nice wine. Our goal was simple – to show respect for the chardonnay grape. Two vineyards (Alexanders and Miamup), two sub-regions (Carbunup and Wilyabrup) and two clones (Gingin and Burgundian Clone 5). We’ve created a Chardonnay that displays finesse and elegance, with refined oak treatment and the deep, beautiful mouth coating characters that showcase the Margaret River region. This is a classical style Chardonnay with tropical, stone fruit flavours which present a distinctly supple, creamy texture, with well-balanced acidity and complexity.- Sold Out -
2017 Viognier Chardonnay, Margaret River $50.00
“Green apricot, lemon, orange blossom. Something good and tart like cream cheese frosting. White pepper, white peach, green mango, kiwi fruit and green apple. The palate has epic bright acidity from the chardonnay, and richness from the viognier. Here the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Thoroughly enjoyable and textural. Lovely low alcohol at 12.8%. This is a racy little number but fat at the same time. Yes. 94+ Points.” Erin Larkin, 29 May 2018.
Our 2017 Viognier Chardonnay Barrel Batch is an unconventional blend – using the most widely planted white varietal in Chardonnay, paired with the least-planted white varietal Viognier. Both full bodied and charming in their individuality, together they form an enchanting wine with bold, but restrained flavours which was treated in a traditional method, and then blended to form a contemporary style. The Viognier creates a weighty, fruit-driven wine with beautiful floral aromas, while the Chardonnay steps in to provide natural acid and focus.- Sold Out -
2016 Blackbird Merlot, Margaret River $45.00

Our 2016 Merlot is driven by old world style, particularly the garage producers from the Right Bank in Bordeaux. In saying this, we have given this wine a new world spin, inspired by our season in the Okanagan Valley. This wine is the ‘smooth operator’ of our collection and have called it the Blackbird Merlot, being a nod to the French translation of Merlot. ‘The Blackbird Merlot’ is therefore something of a tautology however works in this instance, given we have used two parcels of Merlot from different vineyards from within the Margaret River region.- Sold Out -
2016 Petit Verdot, Margaret River $45.00

The 2016 Greenhorn PV is the ‘big boy’ of our collection. Strong, firm tannins and spices prevail in this wine due to the small berries and thick skin of the Petit Verdot grapes. It is another example of highlighting a grape varietal which is typically used for blending due to its sexy dark colour and wonderfully expressive tannins.- Sold Out -
2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, Margaret River $45.00

“A well-managed cabernet showing some distinctive southern fruit influence, with the sage-like characters dominant. The palate, however, delivers plenty of richness and dense, concentrated flavour. Our 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon has been sure to harness the unique herbaceous hints that make this grape a cult varietal of the Margaret River region. To truly represent the terroir of Margaret River we acquired fruit from three sub-regions (Carbunup, Wilyabrup, Wallcliffe), and captured the subtlety of each to produce a powerfully elegant full-bodied wine which is both soft and rich with well-rounded tannins, concentrated fruit flavours, supporting oak characteristics, and great length on the finish.Build a case of 6 Build a case of 12
2016 Malbec Cabernet, Margaret River $40.00

Our 2016 Malbec Cabernet is a diversion from the regionally popular Cabernet Merlot blend. The ripe fruit of the Malbec drives the flavour, while the Cabernet provides lightness, aromatics and overall delicacy to the blend.This wine is medium bodied with the Malbec showing off ripe fruit, and Cabernet Sauvignon providing a level of sophistication, while producing a finish with generous chalky tannins.- Sold Out -

With this wine we wanted to showcase a savoury wine with dusty tannins and a food focus. This is a rare Margaret River expression of this variety and made in tiny amounts, this is the perfect fresh, succulent spicy wine to go with friends and food.- Sold Out -
2018 Pinot Noir, Southern Forest $45.00

Knowing the complexities that making Pinot Noir entails, we took the approach that this wine would require an immense amount of care, attention and patience.
These days the term, ‘Minimum Intervention’ in winemaking is commonly thrown around. Our 2018 Southern Forests Pinot Noir is an expression of what we like to call ‘maximum human intervention’ – hand picked, hand destemmed, hand plunged, wild ferment, foot stomped, no pumps, all gravity, unfined, unfiltered and hand bottled. Sourcing fruit from a cooler climate region combined with the use of up-cycled, older oak has resulted in a wonderful youthful, yet savoury wine that has balanced acidity and restraint.- Sold Out -
2016 Syrah, Great Southern $35.00
“This is sourced from the Great Southern. Slightly different take on the usual style of the region, with spicy, savoury notes merging with the plummy black cherry characters. Dusty oak influence and sinewy tannins create a controlled and focused palate that is slightly more old world in character and expression. Our 2016 Syrah produced from the Great Southern region makes clear the ‘great’ in Great Southern. The cooler climate combined with the use of Hungarian Oak has resulted in a more savoury wine that is both earthy and lively, with balanced acidity and softer, ripe tannins creating both power and restraint.Build a case of 6 Build a case of 12
